Little Lola and Big Edie
Lola just celebrated her 1st “Matchiversary” with her Big Sister Edie at the end of August. Over the last year, Lola said her favorite activities were learning how to play Jacks, going to Skateland, and going to the WET Science Center. She said that she is thankful for Edie because “she takes me to places I don’t know and to do things that I couldn’t do [without her].” She said she hopes that she can be in the Big Brothers Big Sisters program for a long time.
Big Sister Edie said that has learned to “slow down and be flexible” during her time with Lola. She is thankful for Lola because “she is so kind and thoughtful and fun to be with!”
Lola recently enjoyed a week of sailing camp through the Olympia Parks Department. She told our Big Brothers Big Sisters staff member all about it at a recent check-in. She liked learning how to sail and was even able to sail on her own one day. The class sailed to the Olympia Farmer’s Market and got ice cream. Lola said she hopes to be able to do the sailing camp again next year if she can.
Lola’s sailing camp was paid for by the Patty Layton Enrichment Fund. The Fund is in place to enrich the lives of youth in the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. The funds from this program have made Lola’s summer a great one!
